Asteros creates multimedia system for JTI’s “green office” in Moscow
Apr 14, 2016
The Asteros Group, the Russian market leader in development of comprehensive infrastructure and security systems, has completed design and installation of multimedia systems in the Moscow headquarters of Japan Tobacco International (JTI Russia). In January of 2016, JTI’s Moscow office earned “Gold” certification under the international LEED standard for environmental construction.
The new JTI headquarters in Russia opened in September of 2015 in the Mercury City Tower skyscraper, where the company acquired nearly 10,000 square meters of office space to create optimal working conditions for its staff. Following the standards set by JTI throughout the world, the Russian office was to meet strict requirements for the organization of space, energy efficiency, and productivity. Thus it was decided to deploy an advanced multimedia infrastructure in the high-rise that would render it possible to hold international video conferences, business meetings, and other gatherings at any level.
The Asteros group was selected as a partner in outfitting the new JTI office at Mercury City Tower. During construction the integrator designed and implemented multimedia systems for 25 rooms at the JTI office, including the management offices. A Digital Signage system with centralized server control was installed to display video information for the company staff and visitors (news items, music and advertising, presentations, and scrolling text, i.e. exchange rates, corporate shuttle schedules, traffic conditions, etc.). This system includes twenty 55-inch Samsung LCD screens installed in the elevator and lounge areas.
At the center of the JTI project is the convertible main hall, which can be transformed as necessary into multiple conference rooms. This facility is equipped with Panasonic projectors and motorized 119-inch screens that descend from slots in the ceiling. To synchronize the screens, Asteros specialists developed a Crestron customized control system with a flexible interface that incorporates the client company’s corporate identity. The system controls operation of all equipment in the facility, including adjustment of screen position and activation or deactivation of devices. For meetings, all rooms are equipped with interfaces for presentation equipment, PCs, laptops, and display tools (LCD panels and projectors with wide-format, motorized, 106-inch to 119-inch screens), as well as Smart interactive projectors and Projecta and Targa screens. Audio playback is provided by Extron overhead sound systems. The High-End Sennheiser radio system provides clear transmission of sound over an extended range. The intelligent cabling system, with more than 2500 ports, provides service to around 450 workstations for JTI staff and for the conference rooms.
“We wanted to implement the most innovative technology solutions in this new office so that the employees would be able to work effectively with partners and colleagues from various countries in a diverse range of formats, be it large conferences, intra-department presentations, or video calls. We would like to thank the Asteros team, which succeeded in incorporating the aesthetic features of the office and accomplished all of its tasks in a highly professional manner,” noted Vadim Kolupayev, Director of Information Technologies for JTI Russia.
“The new JTI headquarters, with its high-tech ‘internals’, fully conforms to the scale of the client’s business and enables the use of multimedia tools to enhance operating efficiency,” states Valery Sokolyuk, Head of the Infrastructure and Telecommunication Solutions Department at the Asteros Group. “Since office infrastructure must generally be customized, particularly for large companies such as JTI, it was effective to begin the design work in advance. The office facilities were conceived on a shell and core basis, so we had this opportunity when implementing the project, and the entire infrastructure was operating at the highest level before the staff moved in.”
